They say rain on your wedding day is good luck - and for Billie & Dan, it was more than just lucky. Their wedding at The Swan in Bibury was a perfect example of how even the stormiest skies can’t dim the light of a love-filled celebration.

A Quintessential Cotswolds Setting… With a Twist

The Swan Hotel, nestled in the postcard-perfect village of Bibury, is known for its charm, riverside setting, and English countryside elegance. Billie & Dan chose this historic venue for its intimacy and beauty - and despite the unrelenting downpour, their day remained full of heart, laughter, and unforgettable moments.

From Outdoor Plans to Library Portraits

What was meant to be a series of outdoor formal photos quickly turned into a dash inside as the thunder rolled in. But moments like these are where experience and flexibility matter most. We quickly pivoted, set up our portable studio lighting in the hotel’s cozy library, and captured a series of beautifully lit family and formal portraits that felt timeless, elegant, and far from second-best.

In fact, the rich wood, old books, and lighting gave the photos a flair you’d never expect from a rainy-day plan B.

Love & Laughter No Matter the Weather

The ceremony was heartfelt and full of character - Billie’s walk down the aisle had guests teary-eyed, and Dan’s reaction said everything. Despite the weather, their joy was infectious. Guests mingled in the warm, bar areas, champagne flowed, and the energy was just right. We love couples who embrace the day as it comes, and Billie & Dan did just that.

Making the Most of Every Moment

As the skies eased up briefly in the evening, we managed to sneak outside with umbrellas for some romantic, moody couple portraits, adding a cinematic atmosphere you can’t plan - only capture.

The day ended with music, dancing, and candlelit reflections on love, family, and the perfectly imperfect magic that happens when you let go and trust the moment.

A Beautiful Reminder: You Don’t Need Sunshine for Stunning Photos

Billie & Dan’s wedding reminded us - again - that great wedding photography isn’t about perfect conditions. It’s about emotion, connection, and flexibility. Whether we’re working with golden hour light or library bookshelves and thunder outside, we’ll always bring creativity, calm, and experience to make sure your story is captured beautifully.
